DRIVING COMFORT.

The patented integral V rear axle ensures that dynamic and drive forces acting on the wheel suspension are taken up by the wheel mounts, the rear axle subframe, the swinging arm and three track control arms. It delivers unrivalled driving dynamics with unparalleled comfort,.

The BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo also boasts self-levelling air suspension at the rear to ensure that the vehicle offers a consistent ride height and maximum comfort.

COMFORT ACCESS.

Comfort Access features are innovative and easy to operate. They include contactless opening of the tailgate, which allows you to open the doors of your car and start the engine without having to use the car key.

The key, which may be in your trouser pocket or briefcase, is automatically recognised as soon as you approach your car.

Once the door has been automatically unlocked, you can get in and start the engine by pressing the Start/Stop button. This optional equipment also includes contactless opening and closing of the tailgate. A short wave of the foot just below the middle of rear bumper triggers an impulse that activates the remote unlocking and opening of the luggage compartment. Sensors installed at different heights on the rear bumper are used to detect the person trying to open the luggage compartment. Access authorisation is only granted if the system detects that you have the key with you. Once this has been established, the luggage compartment unlocks automatically and the tailgate opens without even being touched.

Functional reliability is guaranteed thanks to key authentication. Objects lying under the vehicle, or even animals wandering about under the bumper, cannot interfere with the system.

FUNCTIONALITY.

Certain needs require certain solutions. This is why the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo comes with a two-part tailgate. This means that jackets, coats, briefcases and laptops can be stored quickly and easily in the boot via the small section of the tailgate.

The partition wall separates the luggage compartment from the cabin interior protecting passengers from cold air, noise and smells. When transporting larger luggage items such as bicycles and beverage crates, the entire tailgate can be opened by pressing a button on the key. This is a standard feature.

In three steps you can extend the 500 litres of boot space by moving the rear-seat bench forward. There's no need to worry about passenger comfort. Occupants still have as much legroom as in a sedan. Folding down the 40:20:40 divisible rear-seat bench, or the individual seats, increases space even further to an amazing 1,700 litres. Fastening points and straps as well as storage compartments ensure everything stays in its place throughout the journey. It offers the expertly combined comfort of a sedan with the spaciousness of an estate vehicle.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL INSTRUMENT DISPLAY.

The multifunctional instrument display, in Black Panel Technology, with a 10.2" screen offers an impressive visual presentation of the driving experience. Comfort, ECO PRO and Sport mode with their specific features can be displayed in the instrument cluster, with adapted colouring and graphics in each case.

REAR-SEAT ENTERTAINMENT PROFESSIONAL.

Rear-seat entertainment Professional comprises two separate 9.2" colour screens (tilt-adjustable) and DVD drive. Optional navigation and internet access (via compatible mobile phone that supports Bluetooth tethering) are also available during travel. Operation can be performed via remote control. There are connections for MP3 player, games consoles and headphones (also wireless).
