At the same time, the pronounced passenger protection gives occupants a feeling of safety wherever they sit.
Two-part stowable back shelf
The back shelf is highly practical due to being split in two. The rear section automatically opens/closes in unison with the opening/closing of the tailgate. And whenever additional space is needed in the luggage compartment, it can be easily removed and conveniently stowed away in a space-saving manner below the luggage compartment floor. This means that drivers can take advantage of the full storage space when transporting bulky items.
Rear seat backrest, foldable
Rear seat backrest adjustment allows the backrest angle of the rear seats to be individually set in a 40:20:40 split. The adjustment range of the rear seat backrest encompasses 15 different stages – from the Cargo setting at an inclination of 8° (for an additional luggage compartment volume of 33 litres) to the Comfort position at an inclination of 27°. This allows the passengers in the rear to individually adjust the inclination of the seat to the position that they find most comfortable. The backrest can be easily adjusted at the touch of a button – a button which can be found on the actual seat.
Automatic tailgate operation
The Automatic tailgate operation allows users to open and close the tailgate electronically – all that is required is the push of a button in the interior or on the car key. The tailgate can also be opened in the conventional manner, using the outside handle, and closed using a button on the inside of the tailgate.
Remote backrest release for rear seats
Remote backrest unlocking for the rear seats allows the rear seat backrests to be unlocked and folded down conveniently via a button in the luggage compartment – creating a storage-area floor that is practically flat. A sophisticated spring mechanism causes the seats to fold down slowly and quietly. The headrests on the rear seat backrest do not need to be taken off, just folded down.
MOBILE COMFORT.
TELEPHONY WITH WIRELESS CHARGING.
Telephony with wireless charging includes a wireless charging dock* and additional USB ports. A roof aerial with aerial amplifier ensures optimum mobile reception. Two mobile telephones and an audio player can be connected simultaneously via Bluetooth. Also included are: Bluetooth Office, an NFC interface and the technical capacity for a WiFi hotspot.

ADDITIONAL COMFORT.
In the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo, a comfortable car journey begins the moment you enter the vehicle and continues seamlessly in the interior. This comfort is coming from optional features such as the panorama glass roof, the automatic climate control or the equipment package multifunction for steering wheel.
Panorama glass roof
When open, the Panorama glass roof provides a great deal of fresh air. Closed, it creates a bright, light-flooded atmosphere in the interior. It opens and closes completely automatically at the push of a button, as well as remotely via the car key, and is equipped with slide and lift functions, an electrically adjustable sunshade and wind deflector.
Automatic air conditioning
The Automatic air conditioning with two-zone control and automatic temperature control features separate controls for the driver and front passenger. It also includes Automatic Air Recirculation (AAR), an active carbon filter, a fog and solar sensor, as well as rear air vents.
Multifunction for steering wheel
With its many buttons, the Multifunction for steering wheel allows the telephone, speech and audio functions as well as the speed to be controlled via the steering without the driver having to move his or her hands.
Interior and exterior mirrors with automatic anti-dazzle function
The interior mirror and driver-side exterior mirror feature an automatic anti-dazzle function, and both exterior mirrors are equipped with an electric folding function. When reverse gear is engaged, the automatic parking function tilts the passenger-side exterior mirror downwards, allowing the driver to see the kerb.
PASSIVE SAFETY.
Each BMW vehicle comes with a package of intelligent safety features aimed at minimising the risk of accidents – for that great feeling of knowing one is always in safe hands. Highly robust, large-volume supporting structures and the intelligent use of specialized high-strength steel ensure maximum rigidity in the safety passenger cell, while keeping the overall weight to a minimum.
The impact of a collision is channelled away from the passenger cell to other parts of the car body, such as the undercarriage, side frames, front bulkhead and roof, where it is absorbed by deformation zones at the front and rear. In the case of a side-on collision, occupants are protected by strengthened structures in the B-pillars and side skirts, highly rigid side impact protection in the doors, as well as a stable seat crossmember.
Various pedestrian-protection features can be found at the front of the car. A shock absorber is built into the front area between the bumper and bumper cover, which reduces the chance of injuries in the event that the bumper strikes a pedestrian's legs. In addition, the bonnet is fitted with deformation elements that form crumple zones and help absorb impact energy.
